She began writing under the "American Girl" banner, authoring two books in the series. Shull was born and raised in Ithaca, and holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Cornell University, including a Ph.D. I think it’s somehow … for me, there’s some sort of evolutionary vibe in still being connected to different people from different parts of your life, seeing your friends growing up and old teachers.” There’s such a mix of people from all these different times of your life … I love small-town living. “It’s beyond the normal travel I do and the schools I visit. It’s just so much fun … you can’t beat it. “There’s nothing like sharing your heart with your hometown,” Shull said. Since the book was published, Shull has been all over the country, from middle schools to movie sets. Under the spotlight at the Hangar Theater at a recent event, Shull stood smiling in front of an audience of neighbors, friends and children clutching copies of her book. The Disney Channel original movie will air at 8 p.m. Ithaca author Megan Shull will make her debut on the small screen Friday with the television premiere of “The Swap,” a film based on her 2014 young adult book. ![]()
